A family friend wants me to make cupcakes for her twins first birthday, she wants a dozen Funfetti cupcakes, and a dozen chocolate cupcakes that look like monkeys. I was thinking charge her less for the Funfetti ones but I don't know what to price them both at. This is my first time making them for someone and I am very new to this, so advice would be great too! Thanks! Merry Christmas!
Morgan, that blue line of gobbledeegook--it's a link that vgcea posted for you. If you click on it it will take you to a list of zillions of posts about what to charge.
It depends a lot on what your area will support. I charge $2.50 per serving for buttercream cakes, so I charge each cupcake like a serving. Extra decorations of course add extra money. I'm not sure how detailed the monkey cupcakes are, so not sure, but you can do it one of two ways. You can charge extra certain amount per cupcake or just add on a charge to the total. I'd say estimate how long it will take you to do the extra decorations and give yourself an hourly wage you are comfortable with, then add that to the total. What I do for friends is give a discount off the total.
