Hi CCers,

I've had many requests for instructions on making the puppy cakes in my photos:

http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=71026

and

http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=7815

Currently I have over 40 unanswered Private Messages in my inbox asking for the directions. I had computer problems this summer (hard drive died!) and only got back to CC last week. I thought I'd be able to answer all the PMs this week, but again I'm so busy with a cake that I just don't have time. Thanks to twinsline for sending the puppy cake instructions back to me after they were lost in my computer crash.

I'm going to attach the instructions to this post (I hope!) so that maybe some of those who wanted the instructions can get them, as well as anyone else, too.

I did not come up with these instructions myself.

I found them a few years ago on a Texas cake club website that I can no longer find. I wish I could give credit to the original designer. If anyone knows who that is, I would love to give her/him credit for this great design.

Enjoy!

P.S. There are all kinds of wonderful dog/puppy cakes on Cake Central, some done with these instructions and some made using other methods. If you want other ideas, do forum and gallery searches and you'll find loads of good info and inspiration.

One more thing. I added filling to both of my puppy cakes. Rather than torting and filling the cakes and then carving, I found it easier in this case to shape the cakes and then slice each section (I just filled the head and rear parts of the cake) horizontally into three slices, adding the filling and then building the cake back together. It was surprisingly easy. The beauty of these cakes, too, is if you're covering the cake with the grass tip fur, you can cover up many imperfections and even a little bulging filling doesn't matter.

I feel weird about bumping my own thread, but I want to make sure as many people as possible who wanted the instructions saw this.

Thanks!

Well thank you for bumping it else I would not have seen it. I'm saving the instructions until my skill level is where it needs to be to do this - very clear instructions - thanks.

Thanks! Those are all amazing. I'd found that first link, too. But those other dogs are too cute!

I google searched "wondermold puppy cake" and found this link here on cakecentral: http://media.cakecentral.com/files/puppy_cake_869.pdf

I wonder if that's the missing file?!
