I did some research last year on this - melted yogurt chips are dog-friendly, but I could not find them anywhere local.

Carob is also dog friendly.

My pup's favorite treat recipe so far is the 3-Dog Bakery Simple Simon's Treats. Very easy to make!

Thanks so much for sharing!! Now, do you know where I can buy carob? I know it is like chocolate and I do like the taste but have no clue on where to get it... and can you also tell me where to find that recipe, or maybe you can send it to me when you get the chance?
Thanks again everybody!!!!

Carob is often available where bulk foods are sold, and in health food stores.

I should have posted it earlier, sorry!

I've found carob at a bulk food store, in chips like chocolate.
Buy some extra or test out a small batch first - I burnt all of mine to a crisp on the double boiler.

Does anyone know tricks to get it to melt smoothly? For whatever reason, I had a really tough time.

I remembered a strange thing with those Simple Simon dog treats.

I had made a few batches, used Jif or maybe Kroger brand (smooth and crunchy both work well.). I passed the recipe along to my friend because her dogs LOVED the treats. She decided it would be better for the dogs to use an all natural peanut butter.

Well ... they wouldn't eat them! And that was the only difference. Strange dogs!

I just wanted to say thank you for sharing this idea. I just made the recipe that czyadgrl posted, and my dog LOVED them. I just used regular, (store brand) peanut butter. I made extra for the dogs in our extended family for Christmas. Can't wait until I can give it to them! Thanks again!! thumbs_up.gif

Hi, I made them for my best friends pooch and he LOVED them too. I also did some with beef, chicken, ham and turkey (ham and turkey for the holidays, so that he wouldn't be left out) and he went crazy! I'm his favorite aunt now! icon_wink.gif That recipe is also very simple and quick, let me know if you are interested in having it. icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

I'm sooo interested in the meat flavored treat recipes! (well, my hound dog is anyway!). Do post or PM if you don't mind.

I'm glad the recipe was a hit. Can't take any credit for it, but glad to share it!
