Watering Can
was asked to do a cake for a man's 80th birthday. When I asked his daughter to give me some ideas for the design (favorite color, sport, hobby, etc.) she said the things that mattered most to him was gardening, and his 5 daughters. I was totally stumped! I was browsing this site one day and came across Boween's watering can cake and voila! the idea was born! Then a friend of mine found the cutest mini doll cake in a Wilton book - the dresses were fondant tulip petals. I improvised and made different color dresses for each doll with a leaf cutter. I consulted with the man's daughter to make sure it wouldn't be too feminine for him, and she loved it! Her father loved the cakes! Thanks to Boween for the wonderful inspiration!

Bmw Cake
This was a birthday cake for a friend who loves his BMW, but would work well as a Groom's cake also. Devil's food chocolate cake with cookies and cream pudding for filling and covered in MMF. I added the black strip on the bottom border with blue dots just to dress it up somewhat, but hopefully keep it masculine-looking. It's hard to see, though, on the black tray. He loved it, and didn't want to cut it!

Basketweave
A side view: Pay no attention to how skinny the cake is. I had a little trouble with the recipe, and no time/resources to make a second layer. I made several mistakes on the basket weave (my first time) so to cover them up I made cute little flowers. I would have made drop flowers but I seem to have lost my only drop flower tip, it would have been too big anyways. And my star tip was covered in green from the bottom border. I picked up a smaller drop flower tip today when I was out, so next time I decide t

Rosebuds And Roses
I learned a new flower, the 'rose bud' and I quite like the way they look. I need a little work making the stems come together. And making bows that actually look nice. But otherwise I'm happy. The roses turned out nicely too, the concept finally clicked the other day (thanks to the rosebuds actually), now all I need is more practice to perfect them. And I'm so ecstatic about tip 352, my leaves actually look like leaves, and one tip does small and large leaves! Why do we even bother having those other tips

Magic Theme Cake
This was a 12 x 18 sheet cake with one side was french vanilla and the other chocolate fudge. The cake was icing in buttercream but all the magic theme items were royal icing. The letters were made with candy melts. I used Betty Crocker spray can yellow on the top of the cake. Then I added some sparkle dust near the letters and the wand. This was my first time making things other than letters and sugar cookies with royal icing. I had a blast designing this and it seemed faster than making a BCT. Maybe because I did the decorations days before the cake was due and all I had to do that day was ice the cake and place the decorations on it.

Pansy Basket Cake
I made this cake for my mother-in-law's birthday. It's based on the Pansy Basket cake on the cover of the 1997 Wilton yearbook, but it's a smaller cake. The pansies are royal icing. The purple and yellow pansies are spatula striped, the white pansies with burgundy edges and the yellow pansies with darker yellow edges are brush striped, and all of the centers of the pansies are hand-painted. (The edges of the leaves are also hand-painted.)

Monster Truck Cupcake Cake
This was a 24 cupcake cake made to resemble a monster truck. It is buttercream with buttercream filled cupcakes and a little royal icing too. The truck was a buttercream transfer. I did the wheels separate from the body and then added the details after it was on the cake. The silver is actually royal icing, it kinda left it with a shiny metalic sheen. I had the worst time making the red for the truck. I made the icing over 24 hrs ahead of time and it just wouldn't darken. I added maroon, a touch of black but still didn't get what I wanted. Oh well hopefully won't have that problem next time since I just ordered some americolor super red & others, can't wait to try that stuff!!
