These aren't my best cookies, but their my most colorful.

Thank. Most of the colors aren't layered. I did the design outline in black, then flooded with the different colors. The dots were applied when the icing started to form a skin.

Now that I've stared at them forever I can finally ask my question!! How long did you let the black outline sit and harden before filling them in?

In this case I outlined the cookies last night, then flooded them this morning. However, that's unusual for me. Usually I outline them, let them sit for about and hour, then flood. I rarely wait for anything to really dry. I just wait for them to crust.

I really appreciate your all taking the time to post comments. Sweethaven, for the RI I just use the Wilton meringue and recipe. Very basic. Nothing special.

Okay, if these aren't your best I sure would like to see the best. These are terrific. I love the dimension you gave the lady bugs and snails. Is the leaf a cookie cutter? I love these!

claylady, the leaf was actually a gumpaste cutter. I always try to use whatever I have laying around. BTW, my favorite cookie was my polar bear carrying the fish suitcase. LOL)
