Fondant Drapes

Fondant Drapes on Cake Central

My 1st wedding cake (and of course it would be 3-tiered with 6 satellite cakes !!!) was done for my brother. My sis-n-law loves fire and ice roses so I hand-painted the roses to resemble fire and ice roses. The whole cake including roses was done in fondant and took me 4 days to do. FUNNY NOTE-- after all that hard work, I almost fell into it on the way to the reception hall! LOL!

Beautiful! I can't hardly believe that this is your first attempt. The roses, the drapery, it's all wonderful. And that is a massive amount of cake to make look good!

Can you share the sizes of cakes you used? And how you constructed the bottom tier on top of the 6 satellite cakes? Thanks

8" , 12", and 16" -- You put a 8" styrophome dummy cake under the bottom cake to support it, so the cake only lightly rests on the back of the satellite cakes, which you dowel rod with 3 rods each.
