My first attempt at a castle cake, design by Debbie Brown. I made this for my friend's 25th birthday, but I think the biggest fan was my 2 year old daughter. ;-)
This is awesome! I am stunned that this is your first castle cake, if only... I have my first one in 2 months and can only dream it to be this good! You really should enter it into the contest!
I tried to link to a picture of my 2 year old standing next to the cake, but the board edited out the link. So I'll post that pic seperately in my photos. The cake was... maybe 16 inches tall or so?
AWESOME CASTLE I am going to make a haunted castle for DD for B-Day. May I ask is that all cake or did you use some dummies??? And what are the turrets made of fondant??? So pretty I bet your DD wants that cake for her next B-Day
It's all cake under there, and all of the embellishments are fondant, including the turrets. I used Debbie Brown's cake recipe, but it was a very european style cake. Very dense, more like shortbread than what we typically think of as cake in the states. Even with soaking syrup it was dry. Next time I'll just use my old standard, crazy cake.
Unbelievable! I have been so tempted to try that Debbie Brown cake but was too afraid. You did a fabulous job and I know, for sure, I wouldn't be able to achieve what you did! Congratulations on a job well done! Wonderful work! I love it! Into my favorites it goes!!!
