Rehearsal Dinner Cake

Rehearsal Dinner Cake on Cake Central

For my friend's wedding rehearsal dinner...she wasn't having cake at her wedding (did homemade pies instead), so I made her a wedding cake for her rehearsal dinner. Unfortunately, due to weather and lack of communication...it didn't get used or eaten! Oh well...how it goes some times. Still pleased with how it turned out regardless. Plus the bride never got to see it either.

Royal Icing was what I used for the monogram...needless to say when I returned to the office the next day, the S had crumbled...to be expected. Pardon the pun, but it was kind of the icing on the cake for the situation.

Is that Buttercream? if so you must share your secret how you got the icing so smooth!!! And how did you get the edge so perfect?

You did a beautiful job! Too bad nobody got to taste it! And a wedding with pies and no cake??? I never heard of such a thing!

oh how awful!! It is too pretty for them not to use it!! And the bride didn't see either??? Maybe you can give her a picture

oh i will...i was in the wedding, and we work together too. yeah, the groom's mother said let's wait until people are ready for desserts, and it would be one less thing to carry in if it rained...well it rained, and she also had put cookies out, so people thought that was dessert...long story short, by the end of the evening...the cake was still in my office. 4 days of work in a sense down the drain...oh well.

That's a real shame about the cake because its a beauty. You did a super job and I'm glad you shared it with us here!

I am so sorry to hear that--it looks great though, you did a terrific smoothing job and the color is great!

yes, it is all buttercream--Wilton's Recipe--all crisco version. I do the VIVA paper towel method of smoothing...thank you for saying my edges are perfect, I do not feel like they are, but if others think so...yeah!!! Thanks!
