I doubled a simple 'white cake' recipe. The cake had 6 layers filled with vanilla buttercream. For the outside, I did a crusting buttercream using high ratio shortening, pure icing sugar, meringue powder (pavlova magic here in Aus) only, no butter, clear butter flavouring and a few tablespoons of full cream milk. It was so nice and 'crusty' that I could lift the cake gently on the sides without leaving finger marks. The booties I ordered online but I made the rest myself.
