Mah Jong Case Cake
It's been over six years since I last made a cake, but I came out of "retirement" to make a cake for my grandma's 88th birthday. No one deserves a cake more! And luckily, I remembered most of the skills.
Everything is edible except for the box lid (which is foamboard covered in fondant). I drew the mah jong tiles using food coloring markers, cut out the horse using a steak knife (because I couldn't find my x acto knife), and used very dry fondant panels to form the sides of the box. The 100-dollar bills are edible images.
The cake itself was white almond sour cream with chocolate ganache.
Wow, very nice. She is very lucky!! Amazing job after 6 years of being inactive. It is like you never left.
