My daughter wanted something Disney-ish for her 21st, so I thought I'd make a castle cake. This is an apple and walnut sponge covered in fondant, and I had great fun playing with a brick texture mat, handpainting individual bricks with lustre dust, adding borders and lace, edible glitter and pastillage towers. I had wrapped pastillage around pretty much every cylindrical object I could find at my Dad's house (I made it there so my daughter wouldn't see the work in progress). Guess which ones were baked beans tins and which was a cigar tube!!
