These were my last two cakes of 2016. They were simple 6" cakes for a friend who was having company over Christmas and wanted to have a couple of cakes to choose from.

I used the extra gingerbread reindeer cookies I had on hand to decorate the first cake which was gingerbread with vanilla bean buttercream.

The second cake was cocoa banana cake with chocolate buttercream in between the layers and vanilla bean buttercream on the outside.
