I'm so glad you sketch and make notes like you do, as this is how I do mine. It always looks messy but I know what is where and I see in my minds eye what it will look like. And the customers like it when I sit there and draw while talking to them, when they have paid their deposit I then send them a copy of the sketch. I used to give it to them after our discussion but found my cake design's being made by others, so now they only get them after the deposit is paid.
