Nicole's Wedding Cake
It's been a few years since I've decorated a cake but my stepdaughter got married and she wanted me to do her cake. So, here it is! She left it all up to me. It was a complete surprise to her and she loved it. I was somewhat satisfied with it. My major disappointment with it was that I was wanting the color to be a grey ombre. However, when I combined the White Fondarific with the Black Fondarific to make grey, it came out brown! How the heck that happened I don't know. I always thought white and black made grey not brown! Anyway, it turned out fine. The flavor was the Buttermilk White Cake recipe I found here on Cake Central and the filling was Strawberry Fluff that I think I also found here on Cake Central. Although, I did add Marscapone Cheese to the Recipe of the Strawberry Fluff to give it a richer flavor. Everyone loved it! This was, also, my first time making lace. I hope y'all like it.
Very pretty! You should have just added a bit of black gel to your white fondant instead of mixing colours like that. It turned brown because black is a combination of colours and unfortunately you ended up with brown. It's happened to me too and it's frustrating :-) Now I try not to mix colours like that for important things Still very pretty :-)
This is a beautiful cake; no matter what color it is. I can't believe that this was your first time making lace. What did you use to make the lace?
Thank you so much for the wonderful comments. @yellowdog I used Martellato Sugar Dress for the Lace and was very happy with the results. @MsGF Thank you for the tip on the color! I'll remember that for next time. :)
