Quilted Teal And Gold Sweet 16 Cake
This sweet 16 cake is quilted fondant (Wilton teal) with gold dragees. I created the bow using the tutorial "How To Make a Bow: the Krazy Kool Cakes Way" because I wasn't happy with how my other bows had been turning out. I love their tutorials. Then I airbrushed the bow as well as the name and the rope border. I used a little bit of edible dust for added shine.
How did you make this gold? I am doing buttercream dots and she wants them sparkly and the theme is gold and pink. Thanks.
@dixiegirl1629 were you talking about the balls or the bow? The gold balls are edible gold dragees that I bought from a local cake supply store. I would not try to make balls this small and dust them and expect the color to not come off when I place them onto the cake with gum blue or water. Not to mention how hard it would be to get them perfectly round at that size. It saved a lot of time. For the bow (and rope border), I airbrushed with Americolor gold after the fondant dried. But the airbrush color wasn't bright and shiny enough for me. So after the airbrush color dried, I brushed over it with dry luster dust in imperial gold from CK Products as a highlighter. It really made them pop.
