You did this beautifully! what tools and/or techniques you used to create the texture in the buttercream? Also, is there a buttercream recipe and/or consistency that works best for your technique? I'm to make one very similar in one month.
Thank you! I just used an offset spatula to make the lines in the buttercream. I believe this cake was a cream cheese icing. This other cake that I did in a similar style is an American buttercream (www.cakecentral.com/gallery/i/3369322/textured-buttercream#comment-1512128). I've only ever done this technique with a crusting icing, but it would probably work well with a meringue based buttercream as well if you wanted a more glossy finish. Good luck with your cake!
