Here is BB-8 that I made for Cody’s 12th birthday. He had no idea what I was making him this year so the look on his face was priceless. His friend that he had over was almost more excited than he was & neither of them wanted to cut him.

I used 8" hemisphere pans for the body and a 5" hemisphere plus a 5" round to create his head so he stood just over a foot tall excluding his antennae. He is cocoa banana cake with peanut butter icing and chocolate ganache (body only). The antennae are bamboo skewers covered in fondant. For the “sand” I first covered the cake board in peanut butter icing and then sprinkled it with praline bits. As you might imagine there were plenty of finger marks in it after a short period of time.
