I planned this cake out over the course of a few weeks, asking how to do the bird on this site.   I molded him and let him dry for a few days (far enough in advance that if he fell apart it was no biggie) Then i added the paint layer by layer in my free time over the course of a few days drying in between layers.   The flowers, I watched so many tutorials to learn.  And for them, I started off using a MMF with tylose combo...but I was having issues getting the petals paper thin. I tried several different techniques over 3 weeks perfecting the flower.   Finally it just dawned on me to BUY store bought gumpaste....HELLO.  All of my issues with thinness and ruffling disappeared using just gumpaste.    I say this is my "first" gumpaste flowers, however it was a learning process over a few weeks.

By the time it was time for the cake to be assembled, it was all but done.  Because I had so much time to play with the idea and learn the techniques it was actually one of my least stressful cakes.

God bless tutorials.
