Chemistry Text Book Cake

I was asked to make a cake with an organic chemistry theme for the students taking the 3 week intersession course. The main thing I was asked to incorporate were the models that they use. It was a short notice cake & what I came up with was making it look like a text book open to a page of some of the reactions they had learned along with some model pieces. The cake is vanilla bean cake with lemon curd & vanilla buttercream. All the details are made from fondant.

Great job!  I love science nerd cakes!   It's so hard to come up with ideas but yours is great with the models!

Thanks Kathy.  I have done a few now (you might also like the one I did with a bunsen burner on it).  I guess it's what happens when you work in a chemistry department at a university & they find out you can do cakes.
