My husband's name is Thor, so when his birthday came around I of course had to make him a cake shaped like the Norse god of thunder's hammer, Mjölnir. The cake is banana, per request, covered in chocolate ganache and paneled with homemade black fondant. The handle is rice crispies treats covered in fondant. Truth be told, I couldn't get the handle to stay on because it was too heavy and at the time I was clueless about sculpted cake construction, which is why his hand is wrapped around it in the pictures. But it was my first sculpted cake, so you live and learn. All of the silver detail work is hand painted as well as the board. The runes on the front of the hammer read "Happy Birthday Thor"
