Spiral (Nightmare) cake for a fellow who retired from my office. Theme of the cake was based on his repeated statement that he and his wife were going to hit the road on his camper as soon as he retired. This was my first spiral cake and was supposed to have a camper at the top in between the trees instead of the "Als New Duty Station" sign. What can I say about this gem, the icing never crusted, the carving was horrible, the toppings were all out of scale... I did like the pond and the cattails (which were supposed to be on top, bad planning on my part) at least Al liked it, but he just wanted cake to eat so what can I say... I let him eat cake!
