Baby Shower Bassinet Cake

4 alternating layers of vanilla pound cake and chocolate cake, iced using Sugarshack's icing recipe, and covered with fondant using Wilton fondant and Duff's fondant mix. Canopy was made from fondant/gumpaste/gumtex mix. I made a styrofoam shape to allow the mix to dry in the shape needed to fit the top of the cake. I used 5 wooden dowels around the bottom of the canopy to keep the canopy in place and then royal icing to attach the canopy to the top of the cake, and royal icing to attach all the decorations: flowers, pearls, ruffles and rope trim. I used the largest Wilton oval cake pan to make the cake layers. I used a Martha Stewart scrapbooking punch to make the eyelet ruffle around the cake bottom and to trim the canopy. This cake was previously posted by mariateresa and I absolutely fell in love with it and had to make it. A lot of work, but so worth it. and client loved it. Thanks for looking:)
