This is my first real cake decorating attempt, made for a friend's birthday. Spice cake with brown sugar filling and buttercream frosting. The flowers were made from candy melts, as I didn't have flower candles (as suggested on the wilton.com website, where I found this idea). It is clearly the work of an amateur, but I was still pleased with the outcome! (p.s. I haven't taken any classes in cake decorating - just some reading on the subject and talking with those who have more experience - but I put it in this category because it is my first cake.
