The Sears (Willis) Tower

The Sears (Willis) Tower on Cake Central

This cake was made for my son's 9th birthday. All he wanted for his birthday was to visit the Sears Tower in Chicago (and a cell phone, but he didn't get that!). He then requested his cake be made in the shape of the tower. I was nervous, but gave in. This cake is approximately 2 1/2 feet tall, made from yellow cake and b/c frosting. This was constructed from a dummy (bottom 4 inches because we didn't need any more cake!) and then 10 separate 8" squares, and then carved to the shape of the building. The two white candles on top were to represent the largest of the antennaes on top of the real building. This was definitely a challenge for me, as I have never even thought about making something so big! It did start to lean as the night went on, come to find out I had a major crack in my foundation cake. Guess its a good thing I'm not a builder! TFL!!
