choolate stump cake for a friends daughters wedding...the bark is dark and regular chocolate meltaways... the axe and caterpillar are candy clay...I ran out of time and had to use feather butterflies that matched the brides cake.
it was very easy...i mixed dark/milk chocolate meltaways and poured in a disposable piping bag then melted in the micro...then I put a sheet of plastic wrap on a baking pan...cut a small tip (1/8 to 1/4" wide) off the piping bag and drizzle the chocolate up and down the pan unevely till the whole pan is covered in a thin lumpy layer...then freeze and break in narrow strips to apply to the iced cake...it took about 15 minuts tops!!
it looks so good! I don't even see the lines of the strips...it looks like you've somehow wrapped the cake in ONE entire piece of chocolate "bark". AMAZING!!
if you wanted to i guess you could fill in the spaces between the "bark" with more melted chocolate... but if you look carefuly at my picture you can see the frosting peeking through.
