This cake was for my friend, who was expecting her first child and was celebrating her first Mother's Day. Her cravings ran more to citrus than chocolate, so I baked her a lemon pound cake, covered it in purple fondant and handpainted a bouquet of flowers in yellow buttercream. Her favourite animal is a butterfly, so I placed on in the corner, just to add a little extra to the cake.
