This was done for a girl graduating from college who loves fat squirrels. The tree was made from 5- 12" cakes iced with chocolate bc that was sculpted to look like bark. The board was 19x36 to give an idea of the size of the scene. For the squirrels, I started with egg-shaped styrofoam and covered them with fondant and added the fondant design elements. They're all fondant on the outside except the graduation hat brim which was made with black foam core They were first painted with gel color mixed with vodka then wiped down with water to leave the darker color in the "fur" lines then airbrushed a lighter color. I further highlighted them with luster dusts and gel colors and Wilton white for the eyebrows. The whiskers were uncooked rice noodles. The leaves and acorns were made with fondant also.
