This is a chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream frosting. The roses and decorations are vanilla buttercream. In real life the flowers were dark reds, oranges and golds, not as "day-glo" as it appears in the photo!
If you then squeeze the bag from the top...the edge color will be light. The closer to the tip you squeeze the more of the edge color will fill the rose pedal.
This was the first time I had tried this multi-color technique. I used a spatula to place one color of frosting on one side of the bag, then filled the bag with another color. The effect wasn't always consistent or predictable, but I liked the result.
Thanks! Thinking back, I'm pretty sure it is canned frosting. I can't find a good chocolate frosting recipe I like. Any suggestions??? So I'm pretty sure for this one I bought canned frosting and thickened it with powdered sugar.
