This cake was made for a Book Club Meeting, the book of interest being Nikolski. This particular book club was competing in book club competition for a national broadcasting company here in Canada (CBC) and wanted to do as much to make their 'big meeting' as special as they could. I'm excited to see if my cake actually makes it on the show when it's aired. I'm definately not an artist, but I did hand paint the fondant covered board. I used pearl dust to give the compass a bit of sheen. I'd love to know what other 'dusts' you guys use to give the sheen of silver or steel?
