Our Chief Warrant Officer retired and I decided to make her a cake. My second cake done in fondant.

The interior of the cake carried the colors of the Marine Corps. Marbled gold and scarlet. The gold was a yellow butter cake with a bit of paste color added, and the scarlet was red velvet, with only 1/2 oz. of maroon paste coloring. I prefer letting the natural chemical reaction to give the red in red velvet, and minimize the amount of food coloring.
