Rush Album Covers

This cake was inspired by multiple Rush album covers. I was able to surprise my husband who has been a fan of theirs for as long as he can remember. The cake has three layers (so it would be tall enough for the dragon) covered with buttercream. The sides of the cake represent four albums with two additional represented on top with the Inukshuk Man (rock figure from "Test for Echo") and the font from the first album, "Rush", mimicked in the name and one more on the cake board with the dice (from "Roll the Bones"). Except for the buttercream flames where I placed the birthday candles, the decorations are fondant and modeling chocolate. This is my first attempt to model anything 3D and I learned a lot the hard way. The dragon is RKT covered with modeling chocolate and fondant fruit and coconut drink (from "Rush Live in Rio" cover). The teeth were candy melts. The coconut drink is complete with white piping gel drink, toothpick & tissue paper umbrella & candy melt straw. The body isn't as detailed as I had hoped but time and inexperience prevailed. The other three albums I referenced were "2112" with the modeling chocolate Starman figure, "Snakes & Arrows" with, yes, snakes and arrows, and "Counterparts" with a nut and bolt. While I stayed up all night to finish, it didn't feel like it because I had so much fun creating this. Thanks for looking and for all the tips I got from other postings.
