Bride specifically wanted Hole 17 of Florida's Sawgrass TPC course as the groom's cake. Sheet cake was hand carved to create the landscape. Then buttercream was piped to create water, grass, tree, bushes, etc.
The tree trunk is a wooden dowel, like the typical ones used to support tiers in wedding cakes, which was trimmed to the right height. I then piped some royal icing on the top of the dowel and scrunched a ball of foil on top and placed this structure into the cake. Next I hand-painted the trunk with dark brown royal icing and piped green blobs of buttercream over the foil to make the bushy tree top. Hope this helps! :)
That is an absolutely GREAT cake. 8O
Wonderful cake! How did you make the tree? What is the trunk, and what is making up the tree top? Excellent job!
