Made for a friend's 6-year old nephew. Modeled after a pitcure she gave me of a toy castle he wanted for his birthday. Buttercream icing with fondant accents.
Thanks! For the stone look, I used a plastic sheet (like an impression mat) that's made for sculpting clay. I just waited til the buttercream crusted and then pressed it in all around the cake.
It's 2 10" square layers, plus I made a 8" and cut apart for the tops of the towers. It turned out bigger than I expected when I planned it in my head. It's not as huge as the picture makes it seem, but boy was it heavy. The people I made it for drove it 5 hours and I was a nervous wreck, but they sent pictures of it with the birthday boy so I know it made it ok.
very cool, how did you make the stone look?
