Thanks everyone. Charman, I attach the fondant to the cubes with tylose glue which is entirely edible. The fondant pieces just melt into the tea and coffee so there's no need to remove them. Katskakes, I made a mold of some buttons using food grade casting gel; and then put my fondant into the molds to get the impressions.
