Hi guys...I made this very delicious pumpkin flan. Soooo yummy but it just looks like a plain nothing on the plate. I am bringing it to someones house tonight. Any ideas what put on it besides caramel? I tried spinning sugar but I didn't like the way it looked. I thought of making a spider's web out of melted chocolate but I don't like the way chocolate tastes with the flan....
Is it possible to post a picture of the flan? It might be easier to suggest something that way.
Lovely sugar cage...what you do is grease an upside odwn bowl and with a big spoon...just pour the sugar onto the bowl....keeping your arms moving.
when it's cold..you remove it from the bowl and use it...
It's a nice look....I like using this over a ganache cake!
Thanks guys...what I did was go to the sugar section and read some posts on spun sugar. I wasn't too keen on covering my floor with newspapers but I did it in my sink. I took two empty wine bottles and sprayed them lightly with Pam and used them to spin the sugar on. I actually colored the sugar orange for Halloween and now I'm going to stick on some fondant spiders....I'll post a photo when I'm done.....phew...
I have 2 hours to finish this cake, take a shower & get ready for boy scouts, make dinner, feed my kids, wait around while my DH comes home late, take my son to boy scouts, come back home and go to this party....
Hmmmm...maybe I should make myself a cup of java and relax for 10 minutes first!
Diva....darling...I have a question about the spun sugar.....like I saud I draped it over flan....is it going to disintegrate on me? Thanks sweetie!!!
