I'm making a fondant blanket with fringe on ends. I want to drape it over a corner of the (11x15) cake. Should I wait until just before I drape the blanket to make it? Any advice on how best to make the thing LOOk more blanket-like than just a rectangular piece of fondant?

Thanks icon_smile.gif

If you want it to look like a fuzzy blanket you can take a green scotch pad (new & unused of course) and press it all over the fondant after you cut and fringe and it make it look just like a fuzzy blanket. I would make it just before you are ready to drape for a more real (flexible) look.

Yes, definitely wait till you are ready to drape it on the cake. I've done a few fondant blankets, and that's how I made them. Plus, you will be able to arrange the fringe how you want once you get it on the cake. You can check out my photos if you want to see some examples. I've done a couple with fringes, one with a scalloped edge, and a quilt with a satiny edge. Good luck!

you can also add little stitching lines using a wheel thingy, sorry forgot what its called. and also lay it with some movement in it, not completely flat.

Thank you Wendoger! icon_smile.gif

I've tried the scothbrite pad on a baby hat and it worked great! Gave the hat a nice fuzzy texture.
