Hiya,
I'm doing a cake this Saturday for someone and he wanted a big cake but because I couldn't fit a big one in my oven I've done 2 cakes which I need to stick together before icing with bc, can someone please tell me the best way to sandwich these together as I can't help thinking that when I drive with the cake it'll end up with a crack right down the middle where it joins, to make matters worse its gonna have a fbct on it and I'd hate for that to have a crack down the middle.
I have always used the tip icer and put a strip of icing down the side of one and added the other right to it. I have never had a problem doing it that way....just make sure you put it on a nice sturdy board. I always use plywood when I am piecing cakes together. The icing will hold as long as the board keeps the cakes in place.
I would just make sure you have a nice heavy board to put the cake on. If the board is thick it shouldn't budge and cause a crack. I have pieced sheet cakes before to make larger ones and so far have never had a problem with a seem showing or cracking. I used a piece of plywood for one of the cakes. Maybe someone else has another piece of advice.

I've always just pushed them together. I've never had a problem with them cracking apart. Just have enough support as stated before. If you're really worried you can tape two together. I generally use cardboard from around the house and tape 3 of them together.
