I'd take the classes she teaches (straight from her book) at the Institute of Culinary Education in NY- it's $950 for each class. Pretty much you need nothing else after that.

I would have to say hell no.

Sure, she's talented, but let's face it, if you don't have a natural talent for the artistic side of cake decorating, you aren't going to get it from any quasi-celebrity chef by osmosis. And besides the art, the rest is just food science and structural engineering. icon_biggrin.gif

I think these prices are all about the celebrity status for these people. There are many masters of this art out there, but not all of them are on TV. icon_smile.gif

But then again, I'd probably pony up some money to take gumpaste flower classes from Ron Ben-Israel. icon_biggrin.gif

I think we all kindof feel left out of stuff like this unless we live in the midwest, they have all the shows and clubs etc. I feel lucky that I have the opportunity and the extra cash.

Extra cash! Yeah right like its spare change!

OK, I was just going to post -- Where are they? As I couldn't find anything on their website as to where they were located. Is this the location where the classes would be or are they held elsewhere?

Thanks!

GO,GO,GO,GO,GO,GO,GO,GO,GO,GO,GO,GO!!!! It's seems like a great opportunity! Down here in M'sia, I only have Wilton( And I'm only a hobby decorator so I'm still trying to convince myself to take the classes). Take advantage of this. The skills you learn could last a lifetime!

And if that town's name sound familiar it is where they had a real shaker of a quake in the 90s. You know living in the San Francisco Bay Area you would think we would have access to all kinds of fabulous cake classes. Not really, I have seen some great chefs but not so much cake artisans. We have to travel to take advantage of them too. Some are now coming to Southern California, but that is 8 hours away from us. To take a class from Nic Lodge or Ewald Notter I had to fly round trip to Georgia/Maryland, pay for a shuttle to their town, motel, meals, shuttle back to the airport. Very expensive and time consuming. Is it worth it? Absolutely! So, if you have to travel for Bronwens class do it!

Bronwen is amazing and a really sweet person! I don't think you will be disappointed in the least! I've watched her do demos in Austin and have learned things in 30 minutes that I didn't know.....3 days......no telling what you'll learn!!!!!

Have fun!!!
