i need a good frosting recipe for practicing roses and flowers anyone out there that can help me with that and why when i make roses do they look ripped on the edges?

for practice the basic shortening base buttercream is the easiest. It will last a very long time, and you can reuse it.

If your flowers have dry edges, your icing is probably too stiff. Add some liquid, a little at a time.

could you give me the recipe for the basic shortening base buttercream.
and as for my frosting to dry if i make it wetter my roses have that melted look like all the petals turn into one cant seem to get in the middle

could you tell me how long this frosting will last? and do i need to keep it refridgerated?

It does not require refrigeration, but should be kept airtight. It will last for weeks.

Try beating a small amount of frosting, maybe a cup, and add water with a dropper one or two at a time.

Or you could try adding in a little corn syrup. That sometimes helps with the petal edges.

Once you get the hang of it, the flowers will be easier.
