Hi all,
I know there are lots of cake decorators here who won cake contests on different places. But they are just hidden on dont want to mention themselves.
I am just curious and if they all came together on this forum it will be the great pleaser for me.
So post your one cake picture and present yourself we would like to meet you all and see your talent, would that be a great Idea?
I would like to call them "CCC"Cake Central Celebrity.
Thanks
Nitu
OK...I'll start.....
I entered 2 cakes in the Atlantic City Bakery Expo in October and I won first place with both of them, in their own categories.
...That was my first "live" competition. Both cakes are in my photos, but most of you have probably seen them already as I am not shy and love to show off my cakes!!! ![]()
Well, I don't hide and am happy to share that I too have won a couple times. It's great fun!! I don't feel worthy but am thrilled to pieces! All the cakes have been posted in the albums here.
I won 1st place and a special award winner ribbon in our State Fair last year ( pink hat box cake) and first place again this year. ( rainbow sherbet colored cake) I got 2nd place in the AZ Cake show last year ( Circle of Life cake) and 1st place and Best in Show this year! ( 3 tier winter themed cake)
I encourage everyone to enter cake shows! It's so exciting just to see everyone's work and to get a ribbon or medal....it's awesome!!

eriksmom, try and find out if there is a cake club in your area, if there is, they will now about a how (they probably put one on). I found out about our club by entering the county fair. I had been decorating about a year when I entered the fair (won best of show
) and a 1 year membership to the club.
Also any cake supply shop in the area might also know of a club. You can always start one yourself too! And of course there is always your ICES rep. Even if you are not a member of ICES, you can e-mail (or write) the rep to get info.
I've been decorating for about 16 years now.
K think I will toot my horn as I can now be ONE of the "club"
I just got back from a cake show in denver and won a blue ribbon for my rodeo cake (pic is in my profile i think). Ya'll got to start somewhere, if it's yer first you probably won't get best of show but dang my first time out I got a blue ribbon, whodda thunkit!!!!
Wow! Congratulations everyone!
I am very new cake decorator. I will I could try for local shows someday.
I am learning from CC a lot. I am glad this site is here for us. Learning and getting friends and knowing each other is possible because of this site.
I am always thankful for CC
Thanks you all too.

I'll jump in here too...
A few months after I first started playing with cakes I entered two cakes in my local fair and won both divisions and best in show. I was so excited I entered the state fair with two cakes and a cupcake and won them also! I entered both the local and state fairs again last year and won them all again! I was very lucky and excited! It's a thrill to walk in and see that blue ribbon hanging there!
There is so much talent on this site! It's awesome to have so many great, creative, artistic people in one place that are all so willing to share and help one another become the best that they can become!
Debbie
Congratulations everyone!!! What a lot of talent there is here on Cake Central!!!
I only make cakes for family and friends, but enjoy it soooo much! I entered a local cake show last year and won Best of Show for my division. (I entered the Beginner's division, but got bumped up to Intermediate) I won 2 gold and 3 silver medals for my entries in that show. I also entered the cake that I made for daughter's babyshower in the Wilton Contest this year, and was thrilled to get Honorable Mention.
All my cakes are in my photos.
Again - congratulations to all the amazing decorators here on Cake Central!!
Oh i wish! I have only been doing this a year, but I cant wait *hope* to be as good as some as you someday! I dont really know of any competitions in my area. I guess Iwill have to look into it!
I have had my 5 sec of fame on the food network in 05 and a local TV spot for classes that I was teaching at the time in 04. That is when I won 2nd place in the men's cake div at the OSSAS. So I have had a little fame also. One day soon will post the pics here. Oh yea as published in )5 for the wedding cake at the OSSAS show that year. That to me meant more than the ribbons.
I just got back from the Denver Cake Show (which was a blast!) and did quite well. In the Master's division I got 1st place, Best of Division, and Best of Show in the tiered category. I also received 3rd place in the tasting division.
My best friend (Sheepthrills) won the Le Jardin de L'Amour wedding cake competition!!!! It was her first competition! Not a bad start!
At the OSSAS in 2006, I received silver for my wedding cake, a couple of first place, and a 3rd for different categories.
My proudest accomplishment is being one of the first cake ladies (non-celebrity) to be on the Food Network. My chocolate gingerbread house and the Heart Shaped pillow of flowers were shown for a special on local chocolate festivals. Since then, I have been on Food Network 4 more times.
I was interviewed in October, so maybe I'll be on again. The show is supposed to air in late April or early May.
I guess I've bragged enough. ![]()

p.s. Congrats Diane (Sheepthrills)!!
