I love looking at all the really well-done and realistic looking 3-d animal, baby and people cakes. I don't think I could ever make one for one reason. I don't think I could take a big knife and cut into a pregnant belly or an animal or baby body! LOL! I have no idea why it creeps me out...it's just cake!

Anyone else have this aversion?

I don't really have a problem with it but my son in law would. I made a spaghetti cake and he wouldn't even try it. Said he could not make his head know that it was cake when it looked so much like a platter of spaghetti! icon_confused.gif The only ones I have problem with are the ones with oreos crushed in them. I get creeped out when the gritty stuff gets in my teeth. Guess my sister made me eat too many mud pies when I was little. LOL Just like biting into an eggshell in potato salad........turns me off to potato salad for a while. I have seen many cakes that I didn't want to see cut.........not because they were creepy but because they were so realistic and beautiful. There are so many creative people on CC. thumbs_up.gif I feel like a lowly peon compared to the ones who post pics on here. As long as my grandkids are happy though, I'm happy! icon_biggrin.gif

LOL icon_lol.gif lionladydi...I'm the exact same way with my potato salad. I can't eat anymore after I bite into a egg shell...yuck!! My friends grandmother used to make us homemade chicken salad sandwiches, one time I bit into a bone...gag!! icon_surprised.gif I never could eat her chicken salad again.

Eating cakes shaped like things doesn't really bother me....although I don't think that I could eat the kitty litter cakes. Even though my mind knows it cake...I just don't think I could do it....lol
They are cool though!! thumbs_up.gif

Yeah, it's a bit odd! Cakes made to look like living things or spaghetti or fish really are not appetizing to the eye! We see those things made into cake and our first thought is "gross, who wants a cake that tastes like fish?"

But I do admit, those who can make those creations and cause that kind of effect, must really have done a superb job! I've seen some really "great" likenesses on here.

No, I could not eat someone's face. I hate the photo cakes. It gives me the heebiejeebies when people gleefully cut into the person's face.

Is this one of those serial killer riddles? If you have no problem with cutting into the cake, you may be a serial killer icon_eek.gif I had no probel cutting into the male torso cake that I made, but would probably have issues with cutting into a pregnant female cake or something of that nature. I think that makes me a male-basher though, not a serial killer. icon_biggrin.gif

In case you don't know what I'm talking about, here is the question.A woman, while at the funeral of her mother, met this guy whom she did not know. She thought the guy was amazing, her dream man! She fell in love with him instantly, but never asked for his phone number and could not find him after the funeral. A few days later she killed her sister.
Question: What is her motive in killing her sister? (Give this some thought
before you answer) then scroll down for the answer.

Answer
She was hoping that the guy would appear at the funeral again. If you
answered this correctly, you think like a psychopath. This was a test by a
famous American psychologist used to test if someone has the same mentality as a killer. Many arrested serial killers took part in the test and answered the question correctly. If you didn't answer the question correctly, good for you - you're normal. If you got the answer correct, please let me know so I can take you off of my email list unless that will tick you off, then I'll just be extra nice to you from now on.

hey ya'll...i got the answer wrong too and thankfully so did my hubby..i asked him when i read it..so i guess we can both sleep easier tonight.. haha i don't have a problem with the cakes though as long as it tastes good ..when i was pregnant with my second baby i was frying some eggs that had apparently been to close to the back of the fridge and had partially frozen, not knowing this i cracked the egg and when i seen the ice crystals i just knew that i had a chicken egg that had a CHICKEN in it!! i couldn't eat eggs for a long time after that ...maybe it was just because i was pregnant... icon_rolleyes.gif

tabs8744, if you ever lived on a farm and had fresh eggs, you would really FREAK OUT! I have cracked them open and found a little blood but I have also cracked them open and found a baby chick growing. Trust me...........that will turn you off to eggs and chickens for a while. I like farm fresh eggs but usually use store bought cause I know they aren't fertilized. Also have an aversion to the smell of raw chicken due to having to help kill them when I was a kid. I could usually manage to start throwing up so I didn't have to help much. I always said my mom was made of steel. She could gut chickens with one hand and eat cake with the other! She worked at Armour Meat Co. and several canneries in Calif. before I was born. She said after working in those you get used to about anything. That's scary, eh? My ex boyfriend said if I ever went to a plant where they made pickles, that I would never eat another one. I love pickles so I have made it a point to avoid that trip!!

I had seen the psychopath story before. Luckily I didn't come up with the right answer. I sometimes wonder how people like psychopaths become the way they are. Guess that would be a whole other forum. I can hardly even watch movies about them. I remember when the Charles Manson thing happened and couldn't believe it. It is minor compared to Jeffrey Daumer and some others now.

Must dream up a cake for my girlfriend now. Just called to remind her husband (and yes, he had forgotten tomorrow is her birthday). Good thing they put women on this earth to keep these guys straightened out. LOL

I'm glad there are others like me icon_smile.gif

For some reason the fish cakes don't bother me. I don't even eat fish but I'd eat a fish-shaped cake. The realistic dogs, cats and people freak me out. I think the first time I thought this was seeing a pregnant belly cake.

Glad to know I'm not as weird as I think. HA!

I have one in my gallery. Just click on photos under this post. Also you can find a lot of them by doing a search for "fish" in the gallery.

I don't mind animal cakes, but the baby one on you-tube... there is no way I could cut that. The other thing I have a problem with is the litter box cake. That turns my stomach. tapedshut.gif

I made a Christmas cake one time, and no one wanted the part with a picture of baby Jesus on it. It was kinda weird.

I have to agree with the kitty litter cake comment, there is no way I could force myself to eat that.
