All,
I was making a babyshower cake and the top had a baby cutout made of fondant. I am used to working with MMF, so I automatically made the baby out of it. It never really hardened. Even after 4 days of drying, it was still not totally hard. I ended up making another one out of wilton fondant which hardened overnight.
I was just wondering if this experience was typical. I assume MMF can't be used for "stand-up" pieces?
Thanks for any advice.
I need that answer as well......I love to sculpt with fondant and have recently made MMF......will I have trouble with the drying....should I purchase fondant just for sculpting or is there something I can add to the fondant to make it dry completely?
Thanks!!!!
I have not tried it yet, however I have read recommendations of adding a little bit of Gum-tex to your MMF to help it harden.
Here is the most recent discussion on it.

here is another discussion that I have referred to.

Hope this helps

Thanks so much for those discussion links. Looks like gum-tex would be needed for anything that "stands-up" and is made from MMF. I guess I need to play with MMF and fondant in general to improve my skills.
If anyone knows ... how much gum-tex normally gets added? I think it is 1-2 tsp per recipe, but am not sure why I think that. If not, I'll figure it out on my own. Just figured I'd ask
Thanks again!
I have added gum tex and didnt have a probablem with it hardening but my MMF did crack...and I had to redo the pieces severel times.... I dont know if this helps....But it as just the once because usually I dont have a problem .... In that case I ended up using gumpaste.....
