Has Anyone Used A Silicone Mat For Fondant?

I was looking through Sugarcraft.com last night and noticed a silicone mat that was labeled as for use with rolling fondant, etc. I'd really really like to get something like that since I'm not okay with spreading crisco all over my counter..that and I like the ability to pick the whole thing up, drape it over the cake, then peel the mat away. Have any of you used something like this?
I use a larger version of the Silpat mat called a Roul Pat mat, made of silicone. I love it for rolling the fondant, but what I do is when I get it rolled to the size I need, I lay a cardboard cake circle over the fondant, slip my hand under the roulpat, my other hand on top of the cake board and flip the whole thing over, then peel away the mat. lay another cardboard that has been dusted lightly with powdered sugar on top of the fondant and flip again. Then I slide the fondant off the board onto my cake. The reason I flip it twice is so the shiny side of the fondant is down on the cake and the smooth matte side is up. I don't care for the shiny look on my cakes. I keep 18" or 16" cardboard circle to use only for this method.
Shirley! What a fabulous tip!! I am definitely going to try this next time. Your method makes so much sense and would the process so much easier.
Thanks!
I don't use the pad nor the crisco, all you need is cornstarch and remember to keep moving the fondant as you roll, half a turn to prevent from sticking to the table. each time you turn the fondant, throw a little bit more cornstarch underneath to keep it helping you.

I've never used crisco and I use my silpat for small pieces of fondant. I usually just use a little powdered sugar and be sure to keep moving it to make sure it doesn't stick.
We were just talking about this! Here's the thread...

Just thought I'd add something I recently learned about. Instead of those mats, several decorators I know are using large pieces of clear vinyl to roll out fondant or gumpaste. Buy it at your local fabric store. There are different thicknesses so I got the medium thickness, hoping that will work best. I got 1/2 a yard for $2. I will be giving it a try today in fact but am told it works wonderfully because it can be layed on the counter, roll out fondant, then pick up the whole thing without the fondant breaking or tearing, flip onto the cake and peel off the vinyl. Can be washed off and hung up to air dry. Hope it's as easy as it sounds!

Have not used either the silpat or vinyl, but considering it because the Wilton mat, if you happen to put it on a table with even a crumb, the wilton mat ends up with dings in it! Such cheap thing for such an expensive price - good thing I used my coupon to buy it!

Great ideas. Kim, please let me know how the vinyl works for you. I am going to try this - next time I go to my local Walmart or fabric store.
What kind of rolling pins do all of you use?
Thanks for all the responses!
For gumpaste I use a longer version of the rolling pin they sell in the Sculpey section of the craft stores.
For rolled fondant I use a 3-foot by 3 inch piece of pvc pipe.
