Hello all!
I have been asked to do a version of this baby shower cake however I am not sure what to charge or exactly what sizes to use.

She would like it to feed about 35-40 people so I was thinking perhaps a 10" base with a 6" cake on top. When I originally spoke to her I quoted a price of 'at least $50', depending on whether or not whe went with buttercream or fondant. Now that she has gone with the fondant cake I'm not sure what to quote her. I am notorious for undercharging so I am hoping you folks here will be able to help put!
Another thing, will a 10" cake, torted and filled, feed that many people? What I usually see happening is the mom-to-be takes the top part home so I still want to be sure that there will be enough for everyone. According to the charts here in the articles section a 10" X 2" cake should yield about 38 servings....however we all know that charts and reality are often quite different!
Thanks in advance for all of your help!

Well let's see....Hmmmm
A 10 and 6 inch will feed that many people 35-40.I would however be charging alot more than $50.00 especially if you are doing it in fondant! I wouldn't do it for less than $95.00...maybe even slightly more if you do all the booties etc.
I am no help with the pricing. I have only charged for one cake and I think I lost money on that deal!
I think the 10" should feed that many people but of course it depends on the sized of the pieces they cut. I was guessing from the picture and the number of servings it said that the cake was a 10" and 6".
Hopefully, someone with experience will step up to help you soon.

REALLY?!? Wow! I have a lot to learn!
How do you manage customers expectations price wise? I'm constantly wondering what I should be charging however I'm always undercutting myself.
What a beautiful cake! Sorry I don't know much about pricing though but just off the top of my head I think you should charge a minimum of $75 for a fondant covered cake like this. That would put it at $2.14 - $1.88 per serving (depending on if you get 35 or 40 servings)
Be sure and go up in price since she did ask for fondant and you told her it would be more. : )
