I am new to decorated cookies so let me see if I have this right please.
I want to make football shaped super bowl cookies for Sunday. Here is my plan...Make NFSC recipe Friday morning, cut & bake cookies, also make Antonias RI. That evening cover/fill cookies (not sure of the correct term) and let set. Saturday decorate then set until Sunday's game. Is that okay? I don't want to get too intricate since its my first attempt so I am thinking brown footballs with blue stitching & the word Colts in blue, pretty simple hopefully lol.

I am in a cake funk so I started reading posts over here in the cookie world after viewing some cookies in the gallery. You ladies have inspired me and I want to be just like you when I grow up lol. I think the cakes are gonna take a backseat for awhile. The talent here is amazing (I need a not worthy emoticon lol) Thanks for any help you can give me icon_smile.gif

Sounds like a plan to me! I would just store them in an airtight container after they dry. And it sounds like you got the colors right!! Go Colts!!!

The way you planned sounds right on. You migh not have to wait that long for the icing to set. Of couse you have to judge that on site.

I agree abouth the cake funk. I am working on cake truffle and experimenting with flavors. I think a break into candy will be good.

Go Colts!!!

Your timeline sounds fine. I usually bake cookies and make icing the day before and then do all of the decorating on the same day. I just let the cookies dry for an hour or so and then add the details. I then let them dry overnight before packaging. Hope this helps....I like your idea. I have been trying to decide whether to make a cake or cookies to bring to work that evening.

Cindy6250 & CalvaryKari- I may do the decorating sooner but I wanted to give myself plenty of time. I am a SAHM but I have 1 kid with the flu and a baby at home so time may be an issue lol. Thanks again, I can't wait to jump into this I dreamed about cookies last night icon_lol.gif

i was gonna say the same thing. you don't have to wait overnight to put the details on. if things are working out and you can keep working...throw the details on as soon as it sets. make sure you post pics when you're done. good luck
