Hidden Giraffe Or Zebra Pattern In A 9X13?
Baking By Canudothecake Updated 14 Jul 2023 , 2:50am by Canudothecake
I haven’t made a cake since sometime before the pandemic. Now a friend asked me to make either a hidden zebra or giraffe patterned cake for an 8th grade grad party. I’ve found where I could make zebra rounds, but I’m really hoping for a 2-layer 9x13 - I don’t think the zebra would work well in this shape… I’m not even finding any practical ideas for a giraffe pattern - except maybe what I mention below. I’ve searched here, and online. Can anyone help? (Party is next week - I’m not a professional, just do cakes)
i did see where someone attempted a giraffe pattern in a round pan by squeezing out chocolate batter in a continuous circular pattern around the pan - but I wasn’t too impressed with the result. I was wondering how this might work in a 9x13 if I make long lines of chocolate alternating with the vanilla? My chocolate recipe is pretty runny though so I’m not sure how this would work. I’m Also struggling with long-Covid, so the idea of making several test cakes is more than I can handle. I’m hoping to start with the best idea and just do one trial cake to make sure.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
I seldom remember to come here as you can see this board isn't very popular since the many malfunctions.Reallysorryto hear of your difficulty with long COVID........daughter is suffering through the same from having gotten just 1 shot.
I have never made any designs in the cake like you are asking about. My only suggestion is to take several cups of your vanilla cake batter and add cocoa powder to it for the chocolate part. I have often done this for marble cake :)
Have you checked Pinterest? There were a couple ideas but I think if you bake a chocolate cake and when done cut pieces of cake in a giraffe patteren and place in some white or yellow batter and bake again similar to baking a cake with the colore balls inside.(the chocolate cake pieces with bake just fine in the yellow batter) Good Luck!!
Good idea! Is there app other forum or group than that you’d recommend? I used to come here all the time - it’s nice to have a good resource!
I did see that - but I was leary of the chocolate “spots” getting baked twice
