Hello,

I'm a fairly new baker and I'm making a cake for a 21st birthday cake. The theme is going to be casino and I need playing cards, poker chips and dice. Is it bad to use plastic pieces on the cake or should they all be edible?

Of course it is OK to use plastic accessories.  It is impressive (to other cake decorators) to have everything made of edible materials, but 99% of the time, the recipient doesn't care one way or the other.  In the case of children's cakes, I am sure the child would much rather have a plastic toy with which they can play than a beautifully modeled sugar character.
