So I’ve been trying for forever to get my buttercream to taste like the bakery ones! I’ve come close but there’s always something missing! Scrolling through the forums I’ve come across this creme bouquet flavour enhancer - could this be that “somethin’somethin’” that’s missing?! Is it just an American thing? I can’t find it anywhere in the UK and even good old Amazon isn’t showing anything  - any substitutes??

I've never used a flavoring called creme bouquet, but discovered when I googled it that I do use this mixture of extracts when I bake.

Homemade Crème Bouquet:

  • 1 tsp. almond extract
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp. butter extract
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon extract

Have you tried increasing the amount of flavoring used? Many of us at least double — some even triple the amount used Personally I don’t care for Creme bouquet—to my taste buds that much lemon over shadowes all the others

Lynn, when I use this combination of flavors, I lean heavily on vanilla and almond, moderate amount of butter and just a little bit of lemon.

Yes it could be changed to suit different tastes I preferred my combination of 1 part vanilla, 1/2 part butter & 1/4 part almond A “part” can be ANY measure you want from teaspoons, Tablespoons, cups or gallons:)

Aneesa.t.k.  Here in Canada it’s not called Creme Bouquet, but Wedding cake, or Princess cake flavour. I’ve been doing this flavour for years, in my own combinations. I too do more vanilla and almond flavours plus a hint of lemon. Don’t always add the butter flavour. Just depends.

I also like the Sweet Buttery Dough flavor emulsion. It's on Amazon, pretty cheap. It has a little citrus, but not overpowering. Divine in pound cakes.
