Hi guys!

I cant't seem to avoid these nasty bubbles under my edible icing image.

This is a whipped topping cake. I place some water on a piece of fondant and put on the edible icing image and smooth out any bubbles with a fondant smoother. However after a couple hours, these bubbles still pop up!

I live in a very hot country. Would that be a contributing factor?

What other methods do you all suggest?

Thank you in advance!

I can’t ever remember having that happen. Unless the product has changed? It’s been years since I’ve used them Maybe you are using too much water. Do you brush it on? Maybe after applying the water use a paper towel to wipe/damp it off? You just want the fondant to be sticky not wet

Belinda91  Like kakeladi, it’s been years since I used an edible image. I do remember tho, that using water made it difficult to attach my image. I used corn syrup, very thinned with some water. And like you, carefully smoothly with a fondant smoother. I suspect trapped air under your image, creating a bubble, perhaps from condensation. I have a very thin, fine acupuncture needle that I use to poke a hole in a air bubbles. The needle is so fine, it doesn’t leave any noticeable marks. Obviously, you will not have a acupuncture needle on hand. But find a needle, a sewing needle perhaps, the thinnest you have, and go in on a angle and pierce the image bubble. Hopefully the bubble will disappear. The other thing I do, is leave a whole in my cake, usually at the back, for any air to escape. I hope this helps. And FYI, if you’re a new poster to CC, you may not be able to answer in this thread. CC has massive glitches. You may need to answer in a new post.

To me, this bubble appears to be between the fondant and icing image, so not coming from the cake.  My only suggestion would be to apply the image to the fondant like applying wallpaper, start at one edge and allow the image to touch the fondant while holding up the other side of the image.  Start smoothing the image onto the fondant, gradually while still holding up the other edge.  Continue smoothing toward the elevated edge until the whole image has been attached.  By applying the image this way, it should prevent air from becoming trapped.  I really hope this make sense!
