Hi everyone,

I would love to attend this 3-D duck cake for my sons first birthday! I have done fondant icing before and I love baking but haven’t done anything this challenging in terms of a 3D cake. Would I need to carve it? Should I just make the whole head out of icing? Any tips or advice on where to start would be much appreciated!

I’m not great at 3D cakes ..... but for what it’s worth here’s how I’d go about it Depending on how big you need bake 2 small layers for the body and probably make the head from rice cereal treats The body will be 1 & 1/2 layers then use the other 1/2 layer to form the tail Yrs ago I made a hissing goose w/the body very similar & I think I have some progression pix I’ll see if I can find them but oh shoot I’d need a computer to upload them but don’t have access to any now:( When do you have to make it?

Did you intend to post a picture of the cake you want to make?  I would be able to give advise if I knew what you want to do.  If you cannot reply to this post, just start a new one with the same or similar title.

I actually found her picture on a previous post.  It was buried so far down in the spam, I initially missed it.  It looked pretty much like the tutorial, except with mallard coloring.
